We Are Desperately Wicked, and KNOW IT NOT!

Jeremiah 17:9 The heart [is] deceitful above all [things], and desperately wicked: who can know it?

Desperately wicked: All hope is gone; Incurable.

Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean [thing], and all our righteousnesses [are] as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

Unclean: Foul: Offensive to the senses; revolting; Having an offensive odor; smelly; rotten or putrid (foul meat).

Filthy rags: Menstrual flow on a cloth.

Isaiah 1:5 Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

1:6 From the sole of the foot even unto the head [there is] no soundness in it; [but] wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.

Putrifying: Moist, dripping, fresh wound.

This is a list of what is in MY HEART, YOUR HEART. We are no different than those who commit such crimes if we do not make a complete and constant surrender of our thoughts and feelings to Jesus; and I mean every minute renewing the mind:

Matthew 15:19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies.

THERE IS ONLY ONE ANSWER TO OUR INCURABLE HOPELESS HEART,; THE HEART WHERE EVEN OUR EFFORTS TO DO RIGHT ARE REPULSIVE IN THE SIGHT OF GOD:

'How, then, are we to be saved? "As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness," so the Son of man has been lifted up, and everyone who has been deceived and bitten by the serpent may look and live. "Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world." John 1:29. The light shining from the cross reveals the love of God. His love is drawing us to Himself. If we do not resist this drawing, we shall be led to the foot of the cross in repentance for the sins that have crucified the Saviour. Then the Spirit of God through faith produces a new life in the soul. The thoughts and desires are brought into obedience to the will of Christ. The heart, the mind, are created anew in the image of Him who works in us to subdue all things to Himself. Then the law of God is written in the mind and heart, and we can say with Christ, "I delight to do Thy will, O my God." Ps. 40:8.' {The Desire of Ages 175.5}

HATE YOUR HEART!!!

Psalm 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

ASK GOD FOR THE GIFT OF REPENTANCE WHICH IS NOT TO BE REPENTED OF, BECAUSE THROUGH FAMILIARITY WITH SIN WE DO NOT SEE THE EXCEEDING SINFULNESS OF SIN TO HATE IT:

'Familiarity with sin will inevitably cause it to appear less repulsive.' {GC88 509.1}

UNLESS WE HATE SIN AS CHRIST DOES, WE WILL NEVER ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN:

'If we perfect a Christian character, we must put away from our lives every evil thing. When we are truly converted to God, we shall hate the things that separate us from Him.' {RH, January 13, 1910 par. 10}

If we are in Christ, we shall love the things which he loved, hate the things which He hated, and be obedient unto all the commandments of God. As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so will the soul pant after the things pertaining to the Spirit of God. And we shall make manifest to the world that we are the children of God by the fruits we bear. {ST, June 1, 1891 par. 4}

REFUSE THE WORLD'S PHILOSOPHY, WHICH SAYS: "FOLLOW YOUR HEART."
